Obituary of Ian Malcolm McIntyre

Please share a memory of Ian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dad was born August 30, 1933 to John & Ruth McIntyre. He was the second oldest of five boys. Dad married the love of his life, Catharine Menzel November 16, 1955. Together they raised two children, Donald & Bonnie, who were the centre of their universe. Dad started working at Hillis Bros. the year he graduated high school. In 1977, dad & mom became the owners of the dealership & renamed it McIntyre Auto & Farm. They enjoyed many trips together through their years of ownership. In 1981, Don started working along side his dad until 1998 when dad retired. Through the years dad was on many committee’s & associations. His volunteering in the community earned him a Saskatchewan Volunteer Recognition Award in 1990, he was also the recipient of the first Sportsman of the Year Award in 1971 and gained him a Citizen of the Year Award. His love of sports was also exceptional, from minor to senior and old timer baseball to all the hockey they could take in. Dad truly was the most selfless person we knew. Dad passed away on September 8, 2021 at the St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the age of 88. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Catharine; children, Don (Donna Lynn) and Bonnie (Randy); grandchildren, Catlin, Ashley (Jessey), Lindsie (Danny) and Cody (Dani); great grandchildren, Collins and Blaize; brothers, †Norman (Thelma), Murray (Grace), Gary (Debbie) and Keith (Marilyn); and sister-in-law Carole; as well as many nieces and nephews.
