Katie Reschny passed away peacefully in her sleep at Provost Long Term Care Home on April 20, 2020 at the age of 99. Katie (Dielschneider) Reschny was born May 10, 1920 in Primate, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of seven children born to Chris & Josephine. Katie was born and raised and lived her entire life in Primate and Provost. Katie married Joseph Reschny on June 10, 1940. Together they raised 10 children in Primate. Katie was a hard working woman. She raised her family with always a garden to grow, chickens to butcher and a cow to milk. Her hands were NEVER idle. They would continue to call Primate home until they moved to Provost, Alberta in 1965. Katie was an excellent cook. Baked endless numbers of buns and cookies and in her spare time crocheted numerous dishcloths. Everyone that had a connection to Katie can remember her by the dishcloth they received. She became a life long member of CWL. In 1981 Joe passed away suddenly. In August of 1982, Katie married Herman Reschny and was blessed with an additional family of 13 grown children and numerous grand children. She loved all families and welcomed everyone. She lost Herman in 2007. Katie is lovingly remembered and survived by her 9 children, 13 step children, numerous grand children, great grand children and 1 great great granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother, Tony (Shari); sister-in-law, Fran; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Katie was predeceased by her husband, Joe; husband, Herman; infant son, Alfred; sons-in-law, Jerome Beier and Stuart Anderson; daughters-in-law, Aggie Reschny and Sandy Reschny; infant sister, Francis; sisters, Madeline (Leopold) Mildenburger, Anna Mary (Joe) Weinkauf and Bernie; brother, Peter; sister-in-law, Joyce; all of her Reschny in-laws. With the passing of Katie this completed the cycle of the Alex & Marie Reschny family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Erasmus and staff at Hillcrest Lodge that kept her living a long and healthy life. We were all blessed that she lived a long, fulfilling and active life. She will be remembered, missed and admired. How lucky we were to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. May the Matriarch rest in peace with her Lord and Savior and be with the ones she loved. A private family graveside will take place at the Provost Cemetery. A funeral mass for Katie will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Provost, Alberta.
