Surrounded by the love of his family, John Henry Schmidt passed away on January 29, 2024 at the Provost Health Care Centre at the age of 89 years.

John leaves to mourn his loving wife of 56 years, Loretta; his children Michelle (Terry) and their children Lucas, Alexandria and Nicholas; Wesley (Stacey) and their children Hailee, Brett and Jenna; Wanda (Rick) and their children Kieran and Austin (Kristen); Brenda (Darcy) and their children Kellie (Dylyn), Kerry (Amy), Klayton and Kody, and three great grandchildren Scarlett, Layton and Kash.

John is also survived by his sister, Lena Wright; his sister-in-law, Anne (ⴕGeorge) Schmidt and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Magdelena (nee Fischer) Schmidt; brothers, Joseph (Hilda), Adam, George, Fr. Anthony and Ernest; sisters, Eva (Dan) Williams, Mary (Frank) Metz, Elizabeth (Jim) Carlson, Helen (Richard) Boechler and Genevieve (Jack) Wright; and brother-in-law, Charles Wright.
