Hildegarde was born on July 31, 1936 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to parents Alex and Anna Weinkauf on a farm south of Primate and was the fourth born of a large family of twelve children.

Hildegarde was one of the few women to get a post education and was fortunate to teach for a few years, first at Le Suer, six miles north of Denzil and then at Akerman School, followed by a teaching position at Macklin with Grade four students where she took the bus to school driven by her husband, Ted. When her first child was born, she dedicated her life to her family, raising ten children and becoming a proud grandma of 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Hildegarde was a long-term member of the CWL, was president for a few years and helped organize funerals. She also enjoyed a few years as Town Librarian.

She passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Macklin, Saskatchewan at the age of 87 years.

Hildegarde was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children, Karen (Tony) - children April (Stephanie), Jillian (Scott) - son Hudson, Tanner (Maria); Leslie (Heather) - children Ben (Jacqueline) - son August, Lara (Corinne); Terry (Loreen) -children Heidi (Kyle) and children Drew, Claire and Cash; and Joel (Chelsea) - son Alfred and Samantha (+Jonathan); Jeannie (Tom) - children Sheldon (Pam) and children Declan, Logan and Drew; Craig (Ruby) and children Caleb, Ezra, Alexandra; Nathan (Tamara) and children Thea, Jade, Ella and Violet; Darla (Philip) - son Sebastian; Joanne (Alvin) - children Meagan (Cody) - daughters Nora and Hailee and Jeff (Ashley); Rita (Paul) - son Myles; Kim (Colleen) - children Dustin - daughters Presley and Tayva; Chantelle - daughter Liv; Kimberley (Curtis) - daughter Quinn; Jessica (Bert); Pat (Caroline) - children Cameron, Anna and Amelia; Jason (Kristen) - children Rebecca, Nolan, William and James; Chris - daughter Ashley.

She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore; Paula Gartner, Jonathan Harkins, brother Leo; sisters Theckla, Bernadette, and Josephine; sisters-in-law Jenny Weinkauf and Marge Weinkauf; brothers-in-law Don Feser, Sylvester Stang and Ambrose Sieben.
