Obituary of Kenneth "Keni" Roger Jickling
Please share a memory of Kenneth "Keni" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Roger Jickling affectionately known as “Keni” to many, was born on March 14, 1966, to Fay and Roger Jickling.
Keni was so creative and talented in a huge variety of things; Reiki, beading, baking, cooking and graphic design. He also had a musical talent he always wanted to develop but life seemed to get in the way.
He lived in many different towns and cities, too many to list, where he created so many memories and adventures. He lived life to the fullest in each location. Mexico was his favourite however, and he planned to go back there to live out the rest of his days.
Keni was so generous with those he loved always giving more than he had. He enjoyed the simple things in life like sit down family suppers and quiet evenings enjoying a horror movie or his favorite, “The Golden Girls”. He was always eager to try new things, he had several different kinds of jobs and was always going to make a coffee table book about that – all 300 jobs! Each job had something funny or a good story to tell about them, he tried to find the humour in every situation. His many adventures made for hilarious stories which only he could tell so perfectly. His life was rarely dull, always changing direction to see and experience something new, all that life had to offer.
Keni was the “Keto King”, he accomplished his weight loss goals with great determination and dedication. We were all in “awe” of his stamina and what seemed like such an effortless success.
If you were lucky enough to call Keni a friend, you enjoyed his unconditional love, support and thoughtfulness – he always went above and beyond putting you first. We will miss his meals, cheesecakes and cookies he would share with all he loved with these delicious packages of love every time he baked - Nobody made better cheesecake than Keni!
He truly appreciated anything you would do for him. He never forgot a kind word, assistance of any kind, or a shoulder to lean on. He made you feel like you hung the moon for him. He was kind to all he met, with no judgement or bias. Although he was not religious, he truly embodied the rituals of spirituality that we all inspire to have. Always giving a second chance forgiving the impossible and lending a hand when needed if he was capable. Although his life here was too short, his battles with his health are over, he is now with his family and Loki at peace. With time, just knowing he is in our corner, makes the huge hole in our hearts and lives easier to bare.
Keni passed away on October 18, 2024, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 58 years.
Left to cherish his memory is his partner, Jason Glimps; sister, Kat Lauritzen; brother in-law, Carl Young; nephew, Patrick (Whitney) and great niece, Cheria; nephew, John (Shayna) and great nephews, Liam and Rowan; nephew, Marc; mother in-law, Cairen; sister in-law, Tammy and niece, Teagan as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends.
